Nancy was taken to the clinic today and put on antibiotics. Her foot was cleaned up, skin cut away and dressed. She has been given plenty of dressings for her family to do over the weekend.
I went down into Redemption to get my washing back from the lady down there doing our washing. I gave it to her yesterday without Pastor Joseph being there, said I would pay her £150 pesos which is what Pastor Joseph said. Her son was there without one shoe on. His little toe of his right foot was very badly damaged. Imagine cutting through your toe lenghtways and then spreading it apart. Well that was what it was like. There was bone everywhere. Like a slab of meat at the butchers shop. I said that I would see what I could do about it. It was very clean and not infected. So I'm not worried about it over the weekend, especially when we worked out that he did it over 2 months ago!! The major problem is that he is not working and that is why the family are so poor.
This afternoon we went to Ascension Village to play with the children. Lawrence went to talk to Dr. Bob about José Loius, to discover that Dr. Bob and another English man were discussing José Louis. He had been discharged from the public hospital that morning and had been sent home to die. They said there was nothing they could do. He came home on the public bus. Lawrence, Dr. Bob, the other man and myself had a discussion about the best thing to be done. Dr. Bob was going to send him to th Private hospital in the morning but waying up the balance of would anything be done. We made a descision that Lawrence and I would take him in that afternoon. So Lawrence and I went and collected José Louis and his sister (who he lives with) and drove him to the hospital. Along the way we stopped to get them some food. He ate some of it, and then passed it back to me to look after, where it spilt on my white t-shirt and looks like vomit! We left him in capable hands at the hospital, Dr Bob said that he had fluid in his pericardium (a lining of the heart) this would not be a good story in the UK let alone the DR. I pray thet The Lord will look over him. His sister is concerned about him (there mother lives in another village and she doesn't yet know) and also about her children as she has left them with her 16 year old brother.
Have we done the right thing. Would it be better for him to die at home? will the hospital be able to investigate properly and be able to treat him efficiently? Time will tell and we leave him in the Lord's hands. José Louis is very thin, he has lost lots of weight over the previous months.
Lawrence and I went back to Ascension to find everyone else had gone back to the hotel. But we were able to tell Faith about the sisters concerns for her children so Faith will sort it out. Faith isn't very well, she has a chest infection. Some of our team think she's very good looking!!
Went back to the hotel and everyone was on the beach, couldn't be bothered to go back to my room to get my swimming stuff, so went in fully clothed. |It was lovely to relax after an emotional afternoon. Thank you Richard and Tom for the compliment!! The girls told me what you said!!
