So the first few weeks have gone by so fast. There are so many things going on all the time, new people, new surroundings, getting use to host families and making friends with people in the study abroad program.
Everything has been so wonderful. The host parents are nice and patient when it takes you a minute or two to find the words you need to speak. Students in the program are really helpful, they are always saying if I need extra practice I can always come to them and so that is very helpful.
The biggest problem for me is communication. Since I haven´t taken very many Spainish courses things come to me a lot slower than others, but it is very important to have confidence when you speak. Even though what you say may not be exactly correct, people can still understand what you mean. (I know my Spainish is lacking but as long as someone understands what I am trying to say thats good communication.
Just this past weekend all of us in the study abroad program went to many cities in southern Spain, we learned about architecture, famous people, why things were built the way they were in the ancient years. It was really exciting to learn all of these interesting facts.
If you are planning on traveling to Spain and you´re able to take excursions, don´t miss them. Excursions will probably be some of these most exciting times while studying abroad.
Hasta luego!
