| | | Hooray It's Finally Here!! | | | | | Well it's only 2 weeks late but at last we have a truck! Seeing as its been such a saga i'll explain whats gone on...
Initially we were in Dahab when we were told that the truck was going to be late because it was having work done on it in Tanzania. That was fine so we opted to stay longer in Dahab and soak up some more sun. We got to Addis a few days later where the truck was supposed to meet us but it wasnt there. We were stalled for a few days by being told the truck was at the Ethiopia - Kenyan border. When it failed to turn up again we started to get annoyed and so planned our own route. When Ron (the boss) got wind of this he wasnt best pleased and so added in the trip to Harar for a few days and promised the truck would be there whaen we got back. Funnily enough it still wasnt there when we returned and so we waited longer. The next night we were pleased to see our driver but not pleased to see he didnt have a truck with him. It had run out of fuel in a border town and he couldnt top it up because Ron had unsettled depts to pay in that area. Apparently he'd been told by Ron to wait for Kim to meet him with some cash which was a complete load of twoddle!
We eventually got the truck in the early hours of today. It had new windows that were black perspex that you couldnt see out out and it had no suspension on one side which you really notice on african roads. Still at least we are on our way and at last we are overlanding even if it is on a heap of a truck. Role on Nairobi when we get a newer one
