Last Day at Work

Today is the last day of my job with CMS, which means that also my time in China comes to an end. And while there has been a lot of crap going on (e.g. today the ATM decided that it doesn’t want to give me any more money and that I should please contact my bank – grrrrr!), all in all I’m still satisfied with my time in China. Being away for a couple months gave me a space to breathe (though I had to make sure not to inhale too deeply, as 99% of Shanghai’s air is considered to be toxic by European Union standards) and to figure out what I want to do in the next couple years. I also had the chance to meet some amazing people, live in a vibrant city and get to know one of the world’s oldest cultures. Cruising on the Yangtze before it’s finally dammed, standing on the Great Wall and dancing on the Roof of Shanghai are certainly memories I will never forget. Now I’m looking forward to spending my last couple days with my friend Tina who flies in on Sunday and hopefully 7300 terracotta warriors. I guess I’ve always had a thing for guys in uniform:-)

I hope that eventually I will get around to posting the remaining pictures and stories (including those of South America 2005, oh dear), but I guess before that most of you will hear the story personally. I also want to thank all of you who read my journals, wrote to me, called me or just thought of me. It’s good to know that even though I’m on the other side of the globe, I’m still in the hearts of my friends. I hope to talk to you soon.

All the best,

Katalin
