SUMMARY OF ACTIVITIES I HAVE ACCOMPLISHED, AS SUBMITTED IN MY QUARTERLY REPORT TO THE PEACE CORPS WASHINGTON D.C. HEADQUARTERS, AS OF AUGUST 31, 2003

1) Embarked on three seed-collecting expeditions (assisted by Ecuadorians); collected seeds from 8 different tree species.

2) Established two tree nurseries in two communities; assisted in construction of roof and preparation of land, planted 80 seeds.

3) Coordinated with local municipality in the delivery of over 1000 trees for reforestation efforts in local communities; subsequently participated in tree planting activities with villagers.

4) Co-wrote and designed local Municipal Sustainable Development Unitīs new 5-year Mission, Strategy Plan and Activities.

5) Gave environmental education classes to over 60 students at three local schools.

6) Gave two workshops on composting techniques and one workshop on organic insecticides and pesticides production.

7) Held planning meetings with local municipal Sustainable Development Unit, provincial Environmental Division and National Environment Ministry.

8) Assisted Arco Iris Foundation in implementing natural resources inventory at local farms.

9) Completed socio-economic feasibility study for local associationīs new cooperative in nearby town.

10) Redesigned local park; drew up plans for 60 new trees and new playground equipment. Coordinated with local industrial school to construct playground equipment.

11) Gave two family planning workshops to over 45 villagers.

12) Gave one nutrition and tooth-care workshop to 35 villagers.

13) Voted in as a member of the village Public Health Committe.

14) Gave one workhop on how to maintain a tree nursery.

15) Visited farms and private land on a random basis to provide advice to landowners on better land-use management practices.

16) Prepared land on local association`s organic garden; subsequently, seeded garden with a variety of vegetables and bean crops.

17) Attended the week-long II Congress on Biodiversity Conservation in the Andes and Amazonia.

18) Obtained $50 grant to build a tree nursery.
