| | | Still No Truck! | | | | | Spent the last two days wandering the streets of Addis seeing what there is to offer. Yesterday we went to the National Museum and saw "Lucy" the oldest Homanid remains and reconstruction of the youngest child from remains discovered about 3 million years ago.
We also tried to go to the Ethnolgical Museum but we couldnt because of graduation at the university.
I skipped dinner and met a few ethiopian guys who invited me to watch the Man Utd Vs Sunderland game with about 50 or 60 others in some tent with a tiny blurry Tv screen but it was the sense that football brings lots of people together all across the world that made it special - the 1-0 win helped as well!
Today we strolled around a market with Sandra and Brad which was a bit of a reality check - so poor its unbelievable - beggars and loads of disabled people everywhere - not a particularly nice site but yet there are also kids with nothing that are really happy just pushing a ring down the street with a bent coat hanger.
Went to one of best restaurants in Ethiopia according to the Lonely Planet Guide "The Top View Restaurant" more for the view than anything else. Turns out it was full so they put us in a really posh bit. We felt guilty just ordering a Coke so we got food and blew our daily budget on a slap up bit of nosh.
Been Putting a bit of pressure on Kim (our tour leader) over the last day or so in the hope she'll get off her backside and get our trip on the road. Our truck is over a week late but "it should be here monday morning" now it's "we'll get a minibus to Harar because the truck is still crossing the Kenya/Ethiopia border, it should be here wednesday when we get back" WE SHALL SEE??? Excuse my french but ive heard more bullshit come out of her mouth over the last few days than a cows arse produces in a week!
NEXT STOP HARAR - THE SAGA CONTINUES!!!
By the way - Ethiopia doesnt have Broadband it has "Brodband" or "Brudband" so photos are a no no for now ill keep the stories updated and let you all know when photos are going back on.
