Ok. Finally, I have found some time and effort to write my first story at my travelers page. I am back home from Croatia, especially from "otok Korcula" - island Korcula. By the way "korcula" in Slovak means "skate", quite strange name for an island, do not you think? But I do not know what it means in Croatian.
Korcula is on the south from island Hvar, approximately 20-25kms and just two kilometres on the west from peninsula Peljesac. The capital is a town Korcula. It is a really picturesque town where Marco Polo used to live. The old town is situated on a small peninsula where you can find reconstructed parts of old fortress that should have protected a port and the canal between Peljesac and Korcula. There are so many narrow streets that are typical for old Croatian towns. The marina is very nice, water is pellucid.
Just five kilometres from Korcula town is Lumbarda where you can find two sand beaches - Bili Zal and Przina. I had thought there are not sand beaches in Croatia but they are at least two at Korcula. I saw both but I went just to Przina, I liked it more. You can hire a sun umbrella or a deckchair. However, one disadvantage is that you have to pay 15 kunas for nothing, especially for parking your car.
I stayed with my parents and brother on the north of the island in a new apartment near village Prigradica. Prigradica is a very small town with a one small shop and a small bay with a tiny port. The nearest bigger town is Blato that is inland, maybe 5 kms from Prigradica. Everything was OK during our stay, we had nice landlords. The place was calm which my parents prefer. The sea was excellent, temperature was very good and there was not any rubbish floating. Moreover there were two tiny islands just few hundreds metres from our concrete beach so we had good motivation to swim. Weather was fine, just couple of days there was stronger wind and higher waves but the sun was shining enough, so we had nice holiday in Croatia, despite that the way back home was quite tiring and long.
