We finally made it to the northern tip of Greece where the small city of Florina is located. The drive from Prespa was amazing, huge mountains, dense green forestry and very twisty roads made the scenery look spectacular.
The city is lined with soviet styled buildings (ugly, yet in much better condition than those in run down Athens), however, there is a pedestrian only street (think Bourke Street Mall) lined with so many bars and cafes that gave Florina a buzz.
After checking out so many hotels, we managed to stumble across a nice hotel a short driving distance from the city centre, on the way to the villages.
Ads was excited as he finally got to see the small village of Parori, where his dad was born and his grandparents house (that has been reduced to rubble with a few standing walls). These little villages are all like ghost towns, all abandoned after the 2nd world war, with only a handful of residents remaining. Next stop is the cosmopolitan city of Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece.
