Within an hour of being in Dahab, just as our eyes were beginning to close, I enquired about the PADI diving course. Within another 10 mins I was on the diving course studying my backside off!
Over the past week or so everyone had been raving about how cool Dahab was. At a glance it looks pretty average. No sandy beach, people hassle yuo to eat at their restaurant or buy stuff in their shop. However over the last 4 days Ive learned that its not what you see above water its whats under it that counts. Ive dived 7 times sice ive been here, passed my PADI Open Water Certificate and Both of us have snorkelled for two days. Even though Ive not really got a comparison Im fairly confident that the Red Sea really is the best place to go diving in the world. The water is crystal clear and more blue than the sky. There are corals and fish of every colour possible. Ive seen and done things ive always dreamed of seeing and doing here - the only bad thing is when you think about it and smile under water - your mask fills up!
Hannah's done lots of relaxing and got a nicer tan than me. Its also given her a chance to get to know the others a bit better while ive been diving.
Theres lots of nice food here - pizzas, pasta fish and i could go on. This is far from roughing it right now.
Today we snorkelled the "Blue Hole" loads of fish - hopefully the underwater pictures will turn out ok.
Had trouble booking flights to Ethiopia, and it summarises how lazy and disorganised our tour leader is - Thank God She's leaving us in Nairobi in 5 weeks!
Anyway I don't suppose you can really moan when your in Dahab - Its too cool and too laid back!!!
For Ben & George here are some of the fish we've seen - see if you can find any pictures of them. If I think of any more we'll let you know.
