So when I first got a temping job it was as a receptionist for 2 weeks. At a company called QLD water infrastructure. A company that was set up by the QLD govt to build dams. So at the moment it is in the planning stages of the dams, and land acquisition (voluntary). After my two weeks was up, I moved over to the land acquisition team and worked for 3 weeks as Tina went on leave to Ireland. then i still havent left... so my 2 weeks has now been 7.5 weeks i think. but the company is good. is only a year old, and so their are lots of young people, and everyone was handpicked through the appointment of CEO, followed by him choosing a few people, and them each chosing some people. So it is a great bunch, and out of the 50-60 staff, i would say half of them are 25-35 years old. and they are really friendly and fun. so that is all good. Was offered 6 months work. My recruitment agent suggested i agreed to 3 months, and then another 3 months, just in case a science job came up in the meantime... So i am not sure where all that paperwork is at the moment, but i just keep turning back up there.
I am doing a variety of bits and pieces at work. from helping with sales and land acquisition, sending out info packs and mailing out letters etc, to taking minutes from meetings with coordinator general staff (Coord general is important dept in govt) which means lots of catering of cakes etc... mmmm. so is very unscience related, but is really interesting, and my supervisor is giving my challenging tasks. one of which is having two temps under me for the last three days. one of which was very challenging and i wish i had more patience.. but anyhow...
hmm what else - i work 8 - 5 with a one hour lunch break. the botanic gardens are two blocks away so usually go sit out in sun for while and eat and get fresh air (since in air con all day). Had a few 28 degree days last week, but usually about 24 degrees. so nice in the sun! And there are lots of lizards in the gardens (see pics) havent figured it out - but i think they are water monitors... Jen - can you identify? :) will have to investigate it on net...
There are quite a few science jobs around - but so far i have had no luck even getting interviews. They are mostly at govt or unis, and often those sorts of jobs already have the employee lined up... so im hoping thats why ive had no luck so far!! but i havent looked too much lately as we havent had internet for bout a month. so will start getting more proactive soon. but im not really in any hurry as my job at the moment is good and pays well...
ok other stuff... have joined gym (with pool, tennis courts, and sauna..) am playing social squash once a week and fixtures as of two weeks away i think. my uncle paul who lives here scored me a free bicycle so that is awesome. so it takes me 5-10mins to bike to either the gym or squash (they are in opposite directions) went for big bike ride on sunday for bout 1.5 hours. here there are parks everywhere, and this kind of network thing that connects all parks together - cycleways, and the cycle ways are paths, but kind of like skinny parks and you can pretty much get between all suburbs (and to coast etc) via these cycle ways. so we biked from ours to pauls in aspley (also got dinner there which was good!!:) and learnt 500)
Write i think this is long enough now!!!! should go to bed soon,. is public holiday here tomoro for "Showday" which is like the royal easter show, but bigger. think we might go to races instead of show though...
hope everyone is well If anyone wants to come over - you are more than welcome. will have got rid of more boxes too... free accomodation.... and september is supposed to be best time for NZers to visit... let me know :)
