Yes, it means "I went hiking in Namaze with my friends."

So yeah, thought I'd add some more pics up of a hiking trip I went on with some friends. We only traveled about 15 minutes outside of Osaka city by train. It was a blazing hot day and I was dressed to the nines in my bulldyke attire: camo shorts, big clunky brown hiking boots, and a red cut off t-shirt. I was stylin'!

The hiking group was myself, Dickie, Bec and Dave, and Dave's private student Yuusuke and his girlfriend Kiria. It was a beautiful day for a hike, however a wee bit on the hot side.

So the trail followed an old JR train line into the forests and through 6 tunnels. From looking at the pictures, you can see how lush and green the nature is here in Japan. It's almost like rainforest! The trail was pretty flat and we walked alongside a decent-sized river. Some of the tunnels we walked through were quite long and none of us had a flashlight, so we relied on the lights from our cell phones. And of course, in one tunnel I ended up twisting my ankle again...suprise. Luckily it wasn't a bad sprain. So we hiked for about 5 hours and by the time we had finished I had sweated through not one, but two t-shirts. I felt disgusting.

The heat here during the summer is ridiculous. It usually gets to about 34 or 35 degrees Celsius here, which is only in the upper 90s Fahrenheit. But it is the humidity that kills you. With 95% humidity on a 35 degree day, it feels like your blood is boiling. I actually think I've lost some wait just from sweating while walking to work.

More updates...
I didn't do Mt. Fuji, because I am a huge wimp. 'Nuff said. It didn't sound like fun to me at all. And as you all are aware, I'm not the most outdoorsy person and climbing a 9,000 ft. mountain in the middle of the night doesn't strike me as a "good time".

I only have 4 more days of work at Nova's Multimedia Center. After that I will take 2 weeks paid vacation, which Nova owes me, and then I will begin my new job at a "mostly girls" high school in Asakayama, Sakai on September 4th. I finally found a new apartment and it has a been a hectic battle. It's a small flat near my school. I'm super crazy excited to move into my new place.

I'll definately post some pics and stories of my new job in Sakai as well. Hope you all doing great. Miss ya,
Jo
