After a few flights and a couple of boat trips, we were finally "on the road"!
We left Sukau by 08:00 am heading Mt Kinabalo Park, Poring Hot Springs, to be exact.
On the unpaved road, our driver was very professional and could even manage to speak with me and answer some of my "turist" questions:
After a few Km we left the road surranded by "jungle" and entered the Twilight Zone of Palm trees, oil feedders! Miles and Miles (more than km and km ;-)) of aligned palm trees, some houses of palmfruit collecters and a lot of palm trees more. "Those people that work here are mainly emigrants from Filipins and Indonesia", the houses looked very poor from the outside "they are usually underpaid, and some are illegal... but som e times they make good money!"
And the hours went by, all the time having something to talk about!
Our first stop was at a crossroad, where we were about to hit the asfalt, finally the paved road! After checking the tires, a few photos and off we went!
a bit after we had the chance to stop at a chinese restaurant by the road! about 11:00 the restaurant balcony was full of people eating, and a beatifull color combination! although the swap where it was placed had nice plants!
Another crossroads and the fruit stands by the road. One more stop "BERHENTI" and the first "fruit taste" workshop! some are great, others so-so, and some are very special... either you love it or you hate it!!!
We arrived at the hot spring, in Poring in time to visit the Buterfly farm - wonderfull pictures, specially from the catterpilar - a trek in the near jungle and a Hot sulfur Bath! after that time for a short soccer game with some other turists and some local workers from the park! I played bare feet with the local team and we won ;-) it was a really nice game! very friendly!
