So we made it safe to Barcelona. To pick up where I left off last time, the hauted ghost tour around Oxford was a blast. We walked through all sorts of crazy alleyways that I would have never found, nor wanted to walk down at night. It was really fun though. The tour guide looked a little like Tom Osborne.
On Wednesday, we all went on an excursion to Londonīs Kempton Park. This is a pretty popular park where horse racing takes place. All the girls were in dresses and us guys were in suits. It was a good night. Niki and I both bet and neither of us won. We chose to partake in the betting where you pick a horse that places each race. If your picked horse for each race keeps placing your card is still alive and you have a chance of winning big, however if your horse doesnt place, your card is dead...and thats that. Each card was 2 pounds and Niki and I both did 3 cards so that was 6 pounds. Neither one of us made it past the 1st race. Oh well, still a good night.
Yesterday we went to class, got packed up, and headed to Gatwick airport to catch a plane to Barcelona. We made it here around 10:30/11:00 last night. We didnt have any problems finding our hostel, we settled in, showered and went to bed. However our Brazilian roomates came in at 5:00a.m. They werent loud at all given they were probably drunk...but once they fell asleep I could have definately used some ear plugs. Their snoring was like horses, I woke up and felt like I was sleeping with horses. Niki said she was going to throw something at one of them because she was having a dream that it was her Dad snoring. It was VERY, VERY loud.
We started off the day today with a bike tour of the city. This tour was something that I had researched back in the states, and it seemed really fun. It was the Fat Tire Bike Tour. We just basically cruised all over the city for about 4 hours seeing all sorts of things like La Familia Sangrada, the Royal Palace, a lot of Gaudi architecture, La Villa Olimpiad, and finally THE BEACH!
It is so nice to actually be somewhere where there is sunlight. It is BEAUTIFUL here. The water is crystal clear, the beaches are awesome. There are a couple natural beeches, and a couple of man-made ones for when the olympics were here. The bike tour was from 11:00a-3:00p. Since then we have all been hanging out at the beach. We had sunscreen momīs, so we arent burnt ;) It is now 7:30, so we were probably at the beach for a good 3 hours, and it will probably be longer tomorrow. Anyway, we are probably going to go to eat at the Hard Rock Cafe tonight and then hit up some local bars. I have some AMAZING pictures of Barcelona that I cant wait to upload so you all can see. OH YAH, nudity is legal here in Barcelona, so at the beach, tons of bare chested women. Some that shouldnt be bare chested, and some that are ok to be. The negative side is that there are a lot of men in speedos and really tight swim suits. I think I am going to buy one so I can fit in :) Its amazing how comfortable everyone is with their bodies to be flauting them like they do.
Tomorrows plans include sightseeing, laying of the beach, napping, drinking sangrea, and then eating. This is such a tough life ;) Niki and Jen and I all send our love to the respective people reading. I hope you enjoy my little stories. Until next time........
