Athens

Athens is a very old city and therefore the buildings in most areas are run down and generally it is quite dirty. The metro system is first class (only due to the olympics) as we caught it from the airport to the centre of town. All that brings us here are the magnificent ancient sites. Without going into too much detail (google can help you out) we went to the Acropolis/ Parthenon, Theatre of Dionysos & Ancient Agora. We walked to the Temple of Zeus and then through the National Gardens.

There is plenty of shopping to be done in the Plaka area & plenty of tavernas to choose from for a great meal. At night, the major archeological sites are all lit up & look stunning, especially from atop Acropolis Hill.
