It was 9pm when we boarded the superfast hellenic seaways vodafone catermeran, bound for Paros. No one told us there would be multiple stops...and as we were so tired, we didn't take any notice to the loud speaker, we disembarked at the first stop. Walking around the port following our Paros hotel directions, we could not seem to find our hotel. Looking puzzled, a local couple offered their assistance. We asked for directions to our hotel & they said 'there is no hotel here by that name'. We looked at each other and said, 'we are on Paros right?' They said no, you are in Katapola, Amorgos. We looked at each other again, stunned at not knowing where to go or what to do, seeing as it was now 11:30pm...
Luckily, the they just built a hotel not far from their cafe/bar we stumbled across. Even better, their friend offered to drive us (at 6am in the morning) to the other side of the island to another port where we could catch a ferry to Paros. We would like to thank them at 'Le Grand Bleu' for their help.
This island is so mountainous and the ports so pretty. Katapola town has a population of some 600 people, while Amorgos is part of the 'small cyclades' group of islands. The lonely planet guide said this island is hard to get to, but not for us!
