| | | Petra: One of the 7 wonders of the world!!! | | | | | Hey!
Continuing from Eilat... We made a trip to Petra and we met with Peter and Cesar (from our South America trip) and they came with other friends. Jordan is a nice country and the people were much nicer than in Israel. It felt good to be in an Arabic country again knowing a bit of their customs and greetings.
We left @ 6 in the morning to visit one of the most famous places in the world: Petra! We saw ancient ruines that were used for Indiana Jones' movie about the Holy Grale. There were no tourists at that time and that made it really nice! We walked (well... Dan walked, I used a donkey)800 steps up to thew monastery and had a nap in there, best place to have a nap by the way.
At the top of the mountains we had the priviledge to sit with a Bedouin family and have some tea with them. These people seemed very poor and were making their living out of tourism. Pretty hard cause walking up the mountain there were tons of women selling all the same things. I met this girl who said: you're from Holland... 'dit is beter dan de Hema' she said trying to get me to buy her things. These women are pretty persistant.
So yeah... you can take a look at the pictures in a bit. After this day we continued on our way to the desert of Wadi Rum. We visited some places there and spend the night at a bedouin place... Men! The silence there was overwhelming!! We saw some beautiful stars and watched the sunrise in the morning. God is the biggest artist man!! What beautiful living paintings have we seen until now. We feel so priviledged to be part of this life and enjoy His creation!
The day after it was time to move to the next place: Egypt!!
