Last week concluded the worldwide vote on the new Seven Wonders of the World, since the pyramids are the last standing ancient wonders. Petra won an honorary position for a very good reason. The night we arrived, we took a night hike to see the treasury. (the most famous of the ruins) We were served tea, and listened to some Arabic music… it was the perfect introduction to the breathtaking sight. The next day we really explored the place, and made the grueling hike up to the monastery. It was well worth the view into the surrounding canyons. Donkey, horse, and camel “Ferraris” were around every corner, giving the whole experience a real Indiana Jones feel. This was the most awe-inspiring site I have ever seen; It combined my loves of architecture and rocks in a way I never would have imagined possible.
