The holy city. Jerusalem has been destroyed and rebuilt 18 times. At this moment, representatives from the Muslim, Christian, and Jewish faiths (among others) are fighting over words, lands, and customs. The division of the city is very real, and can be felt as invisible lines are crossed, and as forbidden doors are passed. We stayed inside the old city near the Jafa Gate. It was quite an experience to feel such mental hostility while stepping on holy stones. I felt mixed emotions while in Jerusalem. However, when we left the old city and had time to reflect on the viewpoints from people of different cultures (particularly Israeli and Palestinian) I understood that Muslims, Christians, and Jews desire the same thing: peace. We encourage very similar teachings, and share a common attitude towards our brothers.
