I guess three days away from the boulders wasn’t enough… Justin and I decided to skip Rome, and enter a bouldering competition in Val Di Mello, Italy. (Melloblocco) WOW! This valley is possible the most pristine place on earth. It was at the time at least. Italians call it the Yellowstone of Europe, and for good reason. Huge waterfalls, crystal clear rivers, green meadows, jet-black granite slabs towering on all sides. The largest boulders here are 50 meters tall! There are actually hundreds of bolted routes on these “boulders.” The campground was right on the river, and there was a big climbing expo followed by a slackline competition and party afterwards. The competition was organized so that there were a set 10 boulders which were graded, and the others were just for fun. Sharma’s friends were busy with the “money-boulders” and I was chilling on the V3s with climbers from ALL OVER the world. It was such a great experience to meet such a diverse group of people. As always, the climbing community proves to be the most friendly and sincere group, no matter where in the world you go. This place cannot be described in words, but check out the photos.
Oh, another thing, I am famous:

Planet Mountain included a bit about me in their article covering the event. I don't think they got anything correct except my hometown, (I am Jack from Las Vegas) but it is cool, nonetheless... nice photos as well.
