| | | Working with Special Olymipics | | | | | Hi everyone! So I know that we have been kind of rubbish on keeping this updated but hopefully now that we have steady realiable internet connection we can keep you more up to date on what is happening here with our ministries and with everything else! Today we arrived in Jinja which is where we will be staying for the next five weeks. Although we are unsure of all the ministries we will be involved in, we do know that we will be working with an organization called Spring of Hope which works with children with disabilities. It is very exciting to be working with them because this is the same organization I worked with two years ago when we first came here. I will let you know how it goes but I know that God is going before us and hopefully will use us. So there was something very exciting that we were able to be apart of last week while we were in Kampala. I think I told you all briefly that we were working with children with mental handicaps in the morning time until lunch and that was very fun. We learned many lessons on how love and patience and persistence is the way to reach and help teach these special children. And the love that these kids lavish underserving on us was such a blessing! The second thing we were kind of just thrown into but it was an amazing privledge was to help organize an event for the special olympics. This event was a meeting where Uganda Special Olympics and FUFA (which is Uganda's Football (or for American's soccer) Association) were joining together. This is a very big thing for Uganda Special Olympics because it help gains support and more recognition for the special olympics. In Africa much is not known about what Special Olympics is and the opportunity it can give to students with instructional learning disabilites. We were able to help give advice and set up this event. It was a great honor for we were able to met many different and influential people. But although that was all fun and interesting, our favorite time was working with the children at Mengo Hospital. They reminded us why we are here, and we are so blessed because of them. I hope all of you at home are well. Becky and I still struggle with the occasional sickness and we got a phone that had been lended to us stolen. But we are in one piece and we truely are having an amazing time. Praise God! We thank so so much for your prayers and love. Hope to hear what God is doing in your life! Christy
