Weekend at the pueblo...

I´m going away this weekend with my host family. They own another house in a different city that is about 1.5 hours away by car. I am excited, but I think that it will be a little daunting too. It is hard enough trying to keep up when the four I live with are talking to me all at once! Now I am going to meet the entire family. They are all getting together for a baptism on Sunday. We are leaving on Saturday though and I am going to spend the night there. I was disappointed at first because there is a big bonfire with fireworks on the beach in Santander this Saturday for the Fiesta de San Juan. I really wanted to go, but I found out that it is a nationwide celebration, so I am sure I will get to enjoy some kind of festivities at the pueblo. I will write about how it went when I return!

Other than that, I am just trying to keep up with classes. I had my first test today, and I think I did pretty well. I also got the best score in my grammar class on our first in-class essay! We have one every week. I tried studying alot last night, but my host family kept wanting to help me. I ended up in the living room after dinner watching their version of Dancing with the Stars. I read one of my compositions to Raquel and she helped me correct my mistakes, so that was good.

I can´t believe that June is almost over! This trip is starting to fly by, which is good and bad at the same time. I think that I will miss my host family. Knowing me I will probably cry when I leave them, just like I did when I had to leave my real family in Michigan. I really like talking to Mercedes, and her daughter (also Mercedes). They are really nice and they´ve taught me so much already.

Today Manolo (grammar teacher) told us some interesting stories. Apparently, he taught Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman´s former nanny for two months while Kidman was filming The Others in another city near Santander. He learned alot about Tom Cruise from her and he saw him a few times too. It all just confirmed how crazy I think he is! He also taught one of George W. Bush´s daughters. Manolo said that she was the one and only student he ever made leave class. He said she was very arrogant and came to class hungover every day. Our teacher said he loves our group. He really is an amazing teacher!

More to come. I am on my way home for dinner now!

Echo de menos a todos. ˇHasta luego!
