Hey Guys - Wow it really has been ages since we last wrote on this thing!!
Our last week or so in New Zealand was great. Mount Cook was lovely and Christchurch was good fun. We didn't manage to see much in Christchurch thou due to the missing boot!! When we arrived in Christchurch we discovered that one of my expensive walking boots had failed to make the journey with us!! After quite a few phone calls to the various campsites were we had spent the last few nights, the boot was located in Geraldine where we had been the night before. They were going to courier the boot to us, but there was no guarantee that it would arrive before we left for the airport at 11 the next day. So in the trusty beast we had to make a 300km, 4 hour round trip, just to pick up the bloodly boot!
We then, with all 4 walking boots, left New Zealand for Australia. After an emotional fairwell to the beast and a long days travelling, we arrived in Cairns. We spent about 4 days here mainly just sorting out things for the rest of our trip. We did do a day trip out the barrier reef on a beautiful sail boat. The reef was really good and we both tired scuba diving for the first time and loved it!
After Cairns, we went to Mission Beach which was a bit of a waste of time! The weather was really bad so we couldn't do the skydive we had booked and couldn't sit on the beach either! Then we went to Magnetic Island which was lovely. We did our PADI Open Water Course - great fun and we are now both certified divers!!
We are know in Airlie beach and have just been on our Whitsundays boat trip. The trip was great fun, we met some really nice people and did some really good snorkelling. However, it did rain the whole time - who said Australia was always sunny!!!
Tonight we leave for the town of 1770 which we have both heard lots of great things about and so are really looking forward too. However, we are not so sure about the overnight bus to get there!!!
