After 3 months of working in Oz it was now finally time for us to start travelling round, and we couldn't wait. Although it wasn't the best time of year to travel round the southern eastern coastal area we still started with the Great ocean road, which is basically a very scenic drive along the coast and through forest areas and hills.
The car was rigged up to sleep in if needed and we also had a small 3 man dome tent.As i mentioned before the weather wasn't at it's best so our first night in the tent was spent shaking violently in gale forced winds wondering if we were going to go flying round the caravan site or not, fortunately we survived that night with both us and the tent in tact.Afew days later we found a nice little camp site called Fig tree near the end of the great ocean road and ended up staying there for a couple of nights because it was really cheap and had a heated pool and spa and made me and Jan feel like we were properly on holiday again for the first time since Thailand. This camp site is also where it was a really nice day in the morning so i decided to open the window of the tent to let some air in, later that night we were sitting having our tea in the tele room when we realised that it had been pissing it down for the last few hours and the window was still open. We spent the next hour or so laughing away trying to dry out all our stuff with Jans hair dryer. Our first week was full of tent experiences animal sightings and great views.
