Thurs: 5-10-07 5:30pm(17:30) Rostock 10:30am Omaha time

Riding on S Bahn back from Warnemunde(Vaughn Nah Moon Dah) into main city area of Rostock. Warnemunde is the north beach section of Rostock on the Baltic Sea.

So last night we go out to the Kellar bar. The bar is on the university campus and underground. Keep in mind I am going on maybe 4 hours total sleep, jet lag and getting over sore throat cold thing. We get to bar at 8:20 because is opens at 9. There was already a huge line for the 2 for 1 Happy Hour. We finally get in at like 9:30 after waiting outside in cold with no beer to drink. It was great seeing Henrike, Antje and Charlene since I last saw them in Kearney in the Fall. Well the bar only had Beck´s on tap so I always had 2 in my hand. Got to meet more Germans. Michael (Henrike´s boyfriend) is nice and invited me to a Men´s Day next Thurs. A great first night in Germany and partied til 1, drank just enough(but still hungover this morning) and really enjoyed the DJ mixing great music from 80s, 90s and German hits as well.

This morning woke up at 8:30am hungover. Got ready and headed to the train to get to University by 9:30. Maria went over directions with me last night on the train to the bar and I thought she´d be going with me to help the first day. I forgot to check train number and was on wrong train but it is a half hour ride so I didn’t realize until after 30 minutes Lange Strasse wasn´t on the board of next stops. Plus I didn´t have a train map yet. Got to University by 10:15 but of course group was gone. Approached two German girls and practiced my German with my phrase book. It was raining all morning too by the way so just imagine me late, in the rain but having a blast. I missed half the tour but the experience will help me for when I am travelling with no group. I will focus on the train maps much more. After the tour of Rostock University, we had some free time before taking ferry to Warnemunde. I went into some stores and saw in a sporting goods store how expensive Nike and Adidas stuff is over here which surprised me. Almost bought a mini soccer ball to kick around since I left mine behind at last minute(dumb). Ordered some kind of raspberry filled pasty from a bakery for 80 cent Euro. The morning was rainy and the afternoon was windy so it made the ferry ride cold. Had fun seeing the ships and harbors and walking the seaside and all the little shops.

19:37 Now on correct train to get back to Maria´s flat. I have my map and pass now from Franz who is very cool. Just wish I had that map this morning. Just got done getting tour and pics I missed from Molly, Tim and Cody. Hopefully I´m not late for dinner. My throat is getting sore again. Tomorrow I must be at University by 8am and we tour Elementary schools. Need to charge camera batteries and ipod tonight. I need to take more pictures. Enjoy the few I have so far.
