We collected our 6 berth camper and hit the road. I must say New Zealand is bloody freezing so we were quite happy to be travelling in the van with the heaters on full. The scenery was lovely, its a lot prettier than Australia. We got to Lake Taupo and found a caravan site which was lovely. It had an outdoor pool which was roasting so we braved the cold in our swimmers and then plonked ourselves in the pool. It was lovely just sitting in the hot spa but it was painful getting out.
The next day we went to the bungy jump over the lake. Stu paid straight away and it was available for him to do there and then. I felt sick just watching him, I expected him to stall a bit at the top but he didn't he just did this big dive whilst shouting BUNGEEEEEEE. He then got dunked into the lake head first right up to his waist, he must have been freezing. I then watched from high up above while the people in the boat lowered him in and took him to the side of the lake. When he got back up he said it was excellent but watching the DVD after you could see he was pooing himself slightly. That night we stayed again in Lake Taupo then the next dayka falls. The spas were unreal they were thermal pools that were roasting like a hot bath just coming out of the ground. Huka falls was really amazing it generates 65% of the islands electricity so as you can imagine it moves quite fast, its apparently the largest volume of water in one waterfall in the world. After our sightseeing we continued North for Wellington. We had another stop over on the way down at another camp site then got to Wellington on Wednesday in time to drop the camper van off and check into Downtown Backpackers.
