Leaving South America behind, a whole new experience in Morocco! Morocco has been amazing!! If you love kind people, colourful busy streets, nice food and buying cheap things... than go to Morocco! This country has captivated me and I definitely want to go back one day!
We began our journey in Morocco with 6 days of hiking through the Atlas mountains. We walked through valleys and mountains, about 80 kilometers (!) You should have seen our feet! Every morning we would put lots of bandaids on to protect us (or cure haha) from having blisters! Our focus was visiting different Berber villages and spend some time with these people. It was great to see their hospitality and be part of their meals. We had some great tajines eating with our hands from one big plate. Being in this country, we had to be aware of certain things: how we dressed, how we greet, even how we eat (with right hand, cause left hand is unclean... they don't have toiletpaper if you know what I mean :)). It was a huge challenge physically to walk up the mountains, some were really really steep! But also in this perseverance was needed and God gave us strength, step by step. It was good to be in a place where you don't speak the language cause it was a good way to shine your light without words! Just sitting in the kitchen with the women was great! It was just smiling and looking at one another! How good it was to bless these people all the time!
After this we spend one day in Marrakech (vibrant place) and continued to Essaouira where we just shared life with travellers! On our way back Dan and I had a great encounter with a muslim guy. We sat in the train and we were kind of tired... I jonkingly prayed to God and said: ''please God, let us have these seats for our own this night (cause it was a 10 our trainride through the night and we were tired) UNLESS there is someone you want us to share the gospel with'' Haha, it was quite selfish I know... But then this guy came in and we invited him to play a dicegame with us... we never played the game but had an amazing talk about Islam and us being Christians. And guess what, that night we brought the gospel to someone who had never heard of it! We got his e-mail and we continue to pray for him (his name is Jamil if you want to pray for Him too). Isn't this great! Even if we had to make the whole trip just for this guy... It would be good! Only God knows.
So yeah... here we are, almost at the END of our travelling as a team (I'm sad). In a couple of days we'll be in Jerusalem and have our graduation the 28th. It's crazy, I don't really want to think of it... It's good to see the other students and I'm excited but our team is fantastic and we're so close to one another... There'll be lots of crying I think... Today we also had sad news about four students who are not coming to Jerusalem, please keep them in your prayers too.
Talking about prayers: First of all thank God for this amazing opportunity we had to travel around the world and to share with you about what is going on in the world. Pray for our health, our future plans (Dan is thinking of studying theology and I would like to start a career as a mom, and Dan as a dad ofcourse hihi). And pray for the kids in the orphanage, maybe God is calling you to go there, who knows!! They need you!
Ok, this is getting quite big haha. Hope you're still enjoying it. May God bless you all and thank you for writing in our guestbook!! Really love it!
Big hug, Becky and a big hug from Dan! Going to try to put some pictures on these days from the different countries ok?
