A week out from the end of our first block of teaching we were invaded by .... the family!!!! We met Andrew and Jess in London trying to imitate turtles (they had huge backpacks on their backs and fronts) and brought them back up to Leeds to "doss" on our floor for two weeks.
As always happens, they led us astray and much imbibing was to be had by all (I think beer actually runs through Drew's veins). This was certainly the case on my 30th birthday when we visited the hotspot of Leeds cultured nightlife - The Bondi Beach Club (which even has a revolving dance floor - classy!). To sum it up - very 70's/80's and very cheesy!!
We then took Dru and Jess to visit the extended family making stops throughout East and North Yorkshire. We met up with Ted and Eileen, Sheila and June and Raymond with visits to Scarborough, Bridlington, Driffield and Malton. We then took them to York for a few sites and a few (more) drinks.
All good things must come to an end (thank God! - just kidding!!) and we shipped the "freeloaders" off to Scotland a couple of days after Easter (following the obligatory cryptic clue based easter egg hunt of course).
All in all it was great to have a taste of home with some Aussie voices around the place.
