Woo hoo! What a day.
We took it easy this morning as we wanted to conserve our energy for our surfing lessons. We spent the morning hanging out by the pool and went for a quick walk around the "flea market" area.
The real highlight of our day was surfing! We walked over to the surfing school office and while we were waiting for our instructor, two guys from the morning surf crew came in. One broke his board and the other one had a cut on his face. Not really a way glimpse of the surfing world! Made me a little nervous, since the tide was also pretty high this morning.
We later found out that they were the expert level and were out pretty far... few!
We met our instructor Wawan at 2 pm and were with him for 2 1/2 hours. We started off learning the theory of surfing on land and then headed out to the beach.
I have to admit I was really nervous, the waves looked rough but I knew our instructor wouldn't take beginners out if it wasn't safe.
I managed to stand up on my board on my third try, which put even more pressure on poor Martin. Our instructor was giving him a hard time that his wife got up first! I must say not bad for this almost 30 year old!
Getting up for the first time for the both of us was by far the biggest rush ever!
By the end of the day we didn't realize how tired we were until we headed back to the hotel.
We ordered a late lunch by our pool and sipped on some cold bir bintang. I'll admit I'm really really sore, it feels like I did 100 push ups today, that even typing this story is a struggle.
Tomorrow we are going snorkeling and depending on the tides might rent some surf boards and go out on our own. Jake would be so proud!
Enjoy the pics... we paid for them to take our pictures. Definitely worth it.
