We´ve spent the last couple of nights here in Potosi which has a number of claims to fame: it´s the world´s highest city - 4090m, it has the world´s highest commercial airport, had the first mint in the Americas and it´s cold.

The main tourist attraction here is a visit to the co-operative silver mines to see the harsh conditions in which the miners work. We decided that taking a guided tour to watch people toiling in a job that was probably going to kill them early (and the done thing is to take gifts of cigarettes to help them on their way!) and, not knowing if any of the monies paid to the tour companies actually got to the miners, was not for us.

So we visited the Royal Mint museum for a spot of culture!
