Hot, humid and frenetic..I'm worn out

How come in this thing Hong Kong is listed as a seperate country to China, hmmm, one ponders.

At the end of the tour I had an extra day in Kunming. Most others left the day the tour ended apart from Joe and I, so I had a room to myself for the first time in a month, I miss my roomie already!!:(

In HK I'm staying in a place called Dragon Hostel in Mongkok (rather stupid off me to watch the film One Night in Mongkok AFTER booking my hostel). Nah, actually not that bad, just tonnes upon tonnes of people! The hostel is on the 7th floor of a very obscure building, the room itself being 1.5m by 3m and that includes the toilet....a tad small.

Headed down to the avenue of stars after checking in to watch the light show, how tacky can ya get! The water show in Xi'an was waaay cooler.

It is so humid here one constantly perspires, yesterday 71% humidity, I think I came in the wrong season.

Second day I went to check out Hong Kong Island and the business district. Victoria peak has wicked views and the tram ride up is something else. Cat Street reminded me of the mainland markets so I might come back here with some money in my last few days. Stumbled on a traditional medicine street and snapped a photo of geckos on sticks, yes real ones, not sure what they use them for though.

Everytime I enter a shop I want to greet them in Mandarin and then remember its Cantonese over here, I miss using Mandarin I was just getting semi-desent at it.

Day 3 headed out of the city to Lantau Island to see the big buddha. What can I say....it's big! I flew over in a cable car and you could see it from at least a km away. The steps up to it ara a killer but if old women with zimmer frames can make it then I can't complain too much. I ate at the vegetarian restaurant in the monestary which was a nice change and then caught a bus down to an old fishing village called Tai O.

Spent the rest of the arvo walking Nathan Rd, frenetic to say the least. Not quite sure why Americans fly all the way here to shop, personally I found New York to be a better shopping joint (although I had no money when I was there and now that I do have money theirs nothing to spend it on! Which is why I'm not staying at the Dragon when I get back to HK next week, gonna splurge at a hotel instead).
