Last night we stayed in hostal that, on the surface, looked adequate. Unfortunately, quite how the people who ran the place felt that shouting at each other and moving furniture about at 3am contributed to a pleasant experience in their hostal, we´re not quite sure! So it was up early, check out and search for an alternative.
Copacabana, like its Brazilian namesake, has a beach(?) and is a holiday destination. There the similarity ends. Not many people venture into the chilly waters of Lake Titicaca and most of the beach is taken up with pedaloes!
Trout is the local speciality and there are a number of small restaurants (shacks) along the front serving up a good plateful!
Everyday, outside the Cathedral, Bolivians bring their vehicles to be blessed. They decorate the vehicle and a priest, nun or shamen-type person then blesses it, splashing the holy water inside and out. A small fee is paid and then a few bottles of beer are opened in celebration ("Don´t Drink and Drive" not a recognised slogan!).
