9.5 hr bus ride, groan......with a really dodgy lunch stop. The restaurant the bus stopped at was absolutly feral, so dirty. I ate some rice, but their was no way i was touching whatever else was on my plate. And the toilets!! Chinese public toilets are squat cubicles with no doors (maximum exposure), and this one was particularly bad with squeeling pigs right behind the back wall, I seriouslt hope our do-do's do not feed into the pig swill cause it was certainly heading in that direction!!
Now that I've put you all off your dinner.......
It was absolutly pissing down when we got to Lijiang so Meriam and I dumped our bags at the Old Town Sunshine Inn (really funky place!) and headed out to find ponchos otherwise our bags will get saturated whilst trekking tomorrow. After which we stumbled on a bar street in the old town, a tad touristy but heaps of fun. We ate pizza (hey it had Naxi in the title so I'm claiming it as Chinese) to candlight in a cafe called La Petit Paris as we had our own personal naxi dancing performance. Really really groovy. Its a shame we don't have more time here as I could do some serious damage to the wallet...or perhaps thats a good thing we're leaving tomorrow morning.
Before hitting the hay, I broke my first toilet in China, not entirely sure how but it is definatly off limits now!!
