After leaving the Perhentian islands in Malaysia we headed for the border of Thailand. After a 5hour train journey we stopped in a place called Hat Yai for a few days just to get used to civilisation again (toilets you sit on and hot water!) and to nurse the mozzy bites!

After that we took another bus to Railay beach in Krabi which is on the west coast of Thailand. A couple of nights there then on to the island of Ko Phi Phi which was a very beautifull place and where the film 'The Beach' was shot. We stayed on a remote beach called Ma Prao which was handy as the tide goes out at night so we walked to the main beach Ton Sai. The ambience of the bars was very chilled out so a few drinks later at 4am we realised the tide had come back in and wewas stuck there for the night!
We found some hammocks and got comfortable only to find 10mins later down came the rain (bear in mind it is monsoon season here so when it rains, it really rains!) so i V quickly found a little hut where you drink tea and stuff and fashioned a bed out of foam seat covers till the morning!

Next day after about 1 hours sleep we hopped on a boat to the island of Phuket. We stayed in a nice hotel in Patong which unbeknown to us was the main red light district in Phuket!
During the day (apart from the constant in ya face from the tuk tuk drivers) it was a nice town. At night it was still nice but a very different place. for example just one road (Bangla Road) occupied at least 150+ bars with about 20 women per bar all "looking for love"!! they were everywhere with a good proportion of ladyboy's! (they are easy to spot!)
We managed to stick to the irish bars which for some reason they dont go near.

We left Phuket on another bus to the east coast where the weather is better. We are now on the island of Ko Pha Ngan on Sunrise Beach in Hat Rin. This is where the monthly Full Moon Party is held which im told 8000+ people flock to each month + is the one of the most famous beach parties in the world!
we are here for about 7 nights to catch some more sun and to hit the full moon party on the 15th. We have a bungalow about 20metres from the beach of where it all happens, luckily at the quieter end. it has big beds, air con, proper toilet with a sort of flushing method and hot water so we are happy for a while.
Ben got bit on the ankle by a dog the first night so we have to stay here till the 17th for his second rabies injection!
In Thailand you can get Thai massages everywhere and at just over 2quid for 2 hours we are trying to ration ourselves to a couple a day!
After Ko Pha Ngan i think we are gonna go over to Ko Samui for a few days then Ko Tao for a few before heading up to Bangkok...
