Weekend Trip to Homer - Day Two

2003-03-31, Anchorage, United States

At daybreak we head for Homer. Homer is the Halibut Fishing Capital of the World. And in June the place hops. Fortunately we are here before the season really starts so we can really appreciate the wildlife here. There is a viewing area for Eagles and they are there in abundance on the Homer Spit, the fabled end of the road for the Sterling Highway. The spit is a five mile long gravel bar reaching into Kachemak Bay. We stop at "Land's End" for a great breakfast and a truly exceptional view. It is very brisk outdoors here. The wind really blows and it's quite chilly, but it is a truly unique place here on the Spit. We decide to drive up the hills around Homer looking for potential property and just admire the gorgeous views of Kachemak Bay. Then it's back to Anchorage. The sun is just starting to go down here in The Land of The Midnight Sun as we arrive back in Anchorage.
