On the Friday morning we packed up from Greenock and we all headed to Edinburgh.
Word's can not explain how cold it was but apart from being 8 degrees we had a fantastic time. As soon as we arrived we checked into the most awesome apartment which was right on the royal mile so walking distance to all of the sights and places to grab a bite.
Our first stop was Edinburgh castle which is truly an amazing place. Hearing about and seeing the history around Europe has to be my favourite part of this trip. Inside the castle i near on had my throat slit by a mad scotsman in traditional dress, He assured my that i'd get free beer back in Australia betting people that i had a rough encounter with a mad scotsman. I have the photo to prove it but also have some great shots of the castle during day and night as well as some pics of St Giles Cathedral and the Queen's Edinburg residence called Hollyrood Palace. Later in the night we went to Mary King's Close which was a tour of the old Edinburgh which was built on top of hundreds of years ago. Being 6 stories below street level and having only a guide with a torch with the occasional wall lamp was very dark. The guide took us through where people lived and worked back in the day and she even educated us on the use of toilets and the disposal of....
All i can say is "GIRDY LOOO" - This is what was yelled out before the contents of the toilet (bucket) was thrown out the front door of the house - Lovely. Needless to say this started much of the comedy throughout the evening especially when a flock of sea gulls thought it best to fly overhead and do their business, except we weren't given any warning.
We had a great time in Scotland and Michael and Tracy more than looked after us. We cant thank both of you enough for taking us around the sightsand putting us up, we had an awesome time full of laughter, fun and memories we'll never forget. We hope that we can return the favour when you both come across to Australia again. Thanks again, Ben and Ali. xoxoxoxo
Next stop Mnachester airport to see our old neighbours Darren and Kelly.
