Here's the latest news about Melinda.
Two things are the focus of her life now, her Japanese classroom and soccer.
Soccer is in full swing again, with tournaments and games every week. This weekend is a big tournament that will be the entire day on Saturday and Sunday. Mindy is the forward and it is her job to score goals for her team. Her feet have been in pain 24/7 lately, since she practices 7 days a week for 2-3 hours a day. She bought new soccer shoes last week, so am hoping that helps the swelling and pain. As parents we suggested she quit the team to prevent further risking injury, but she wouldn't hear of that idea.
School has been fun since she's now in a Japanese classroom. She's making new Japanese friends and says she understands what the teacher is saying most of the time.
There is little time for much else in her life. She leaves for school by 7 am each morning and returns home at 8pm. Her evenings consist of supper and giving her host sister an English lesson, then off to bed. Most weekends are full of soccer.
Mindy is starting to plan for her return home. She speaks of it more in her emails. Please continue to write her, she loves to get mail and hear what's going on in your life. Her planned return date is late June.
