Beach life forever!

Hello everyone,

This will be a quick one as I have 12 minutes left on my internet time and many things to do in Takoradi before I go back to GTL.

First and foremost, yes, I am still at the Lodge and loving it. I worked at GTL for a while but I've quit to return to my duties with Viktor in Akwidaa. Yesterday we went deep into the forest to chop bamboo and I presume tomorrow we will go bring it from where it lays. We've been roofing the school building and planting corn and planning our football tournament scheduled for May 18. In short, I've been busy.

Speaking of the tournament, I'm pretty excited about it so I will give you the rundown. It's for all the kids in the village ages 6-14 and registration is free. Teams of nine will compete in three divisions: juniors, seniors, and girls. I had planned on making t-shirts for the winners but the money I had allocated for it was stolen from my bag one night. Thankfully, my parents have graciously agreed to foot the bill and now there will once again be a token prize to the victors and all those who help make this tournament the success it is bound to be. I will be refereeing one of the fields and we will get one of the school teachers to officiate the other. The most important part about all of this, and the aspect I am most excited about is that it is open to ALL the kids in the village. Whether they go to school or not, whether they play on a team or not (which very few do) anyone with eight friends can play. We are posting flyers today and the shirts should be ready early next week. Viktor is inviting all of the elders and "dignitaries" of the village to watch and that should make the kids even more excited.

As for Turtle life, I've been taking it easy. Between working in the GTL and in the village I took about four days off to hang out with a cool group of Brits and a S.African biking from London to Durban, SA. Biking. That was a great time and a wonderful crew to celebrate my 150th day in Ghana. Since that milestone of sorts it feels like the beginning of the end. Life has been so wonderful lately. I enjoy my work. I love the place I stay (who wouldn't?) I am living cheap but well. I will be sad to leave, but at the same time I have so many wonderful things in my future! London, Paris, home, DC, Montreal, GW--I am really choosing between a good and better. But undoubtedly, I will miss all of the girls on the beach right in my front yard. Maybe we can arrange that for back home in CT...probably not. Anyways, I have lots of projects and plans and ideas in the pipeline right now, but no time to explain them at the moment.

Ladies and gentlemen have no fear, I am on a roll and loving every moment!
