Tarantula Hunting

2007-04-29, Titanyen, Haiti

I just got back from tarantula hunting with the Hope House kids. I’ve seen the kids in action before from afar. Today I thought I would see what it’s all about, and to be honest it was the most fun I’ve had in a while!

How To Tarantula Hunt:

1. Move to the Caribbean.
2. Find an old bottle, water source, stick and rock or piece of cardboard.
3. Fill bottle with water.
4. Find tarantula hole.
5. With stick in hand pour water into hole.
6. When tarantula is in sight place stick one inch away from hole and push down at an angle towards the hole.
7. Simply “POP” the tarantula out of the hole.
8. Scream like crazy when you see how big it really is.
9a. If using rock, grab rock and kill tarantula.
9b. If using cardboard, throw cardboard on top of tarantula and start jumping! (much more fun!)
