Yesterday we travelled further South to Nazca, site of the famous Nazca lines and booked a flight for today to see them.
After a fair bit of hanging around we finally got airborne in a 4-seat Cessna for a 30 minute jaunt around the skies. The pilot would point out the lines, weŽd snap away out the left side, then heŽd swing it about and weŽd snap away out the right side. I had to change batteries half way through and the act of looking down for so long whilst I changed them and the pilot performed aerobatics, meant the last 10 minutes of the flight were a lesson in bodily self-control for me! But it was a memorable experience for the both of us.
In the afternoon we took another tour to Chauchilla cemetery, the site of a cemetery used by the pre-Nazca culture. We also visited a pottery and a gold workshop. We would recommend the visit to the cemetery (donŽt bother with a `tourŽ but put your best Spanish to use and take a taxi and ask him to wait).
