A short bus journey (2hours) to Ica and then a taxi to the oasis of Huacachina and our first real travelers hostal, full of dreadlocks, tattoos and stripey, baggy trousers (these have been on sale in all the touristy shops, right through Ecuador and Peru and all the young ones are wearing them. We think they´re probably made in China!).
Huacachina is an oasis surrounded by some very large sand-dunes, one of which we struggled up to see the sunset. On the way up, we spotted some smaller pools that had been created with plastic sheeting. Is Huacachina really a big tourist marketing ploy using a very large plastic sheet????
Some observations concerning young ones - 1. Are they incapable of wearing their shorts correctly or is builders bum and showing your Calvins the in thing? 2. Is it so hard to for them to pick their feet up or is shuffling cool? 3. Has the art of PLACING things down been lost?
Are we getting old or what?
