We went to Loreto Saturday, March 31st. Loreto has not experienced the same level of tourism development that Cabo San Lucas has due to a number of factors including its limited fresh water supply. However, right now the Loreto Bay Company is in the process of developing what they claim will be a sustainable community. We had the privilege of viewing one of the promotion videos that they show to prospective homebuyers. The video was definitely designed for an English speaking audience, and the presenter acknowledged the fact that they market to mostly Americans. The video was very interesting. Although, they have some very obvious weaknesses in their plans and it might be easy to simply criticize their claims, I think it is nice that they are trying to take steps to be more environmentally friendly. After we viewed the presentation, we had time to walk around and make observations. Overall, Loreto is a quaint and very aesthetically pleasing town.
