We got back from spring break on Sunday and then left for our five day camping trip on Wednesday, March 21st.

Wednesday:
First we drove to Cabo Pulmo, making quick gelato/ ice cream stop in La Paz. The campsite where we stayed was a beach. The reason why we went to Cabo Pulmo was to visit the coral reef, which is the most northern coral reef on the eastern Pacific coast.

Thursday:
We went snorkeling in the coral reef to observe the different species. It was awesome! There were many different fishes, sea stars, urchins, bright green coral, and soft pink coral. That evening some of us went of a walk along the rocky coast.

Friday:
We left for Sierra de la Laguna, a biosphere reserve. When we got there we went on a short hike down to a waterfall, where we got to swim in the fresh water. It felt so nice after not being able to shower after having the salt water dry in our hair. Later, we went on another hike and had lecture near a natural water slide.

Saturday:
We drove to La Paz stopping in Cabo San Lucas. One of our assignments is to compare some aspect related to sustainable development found in Puerto San Carlos, Cabo San Lucas, and Loreto. These three cities are of interest because each represents a different level of tourism development. We spent about two and a half hours in Cabo San Lucas. I spent the majority of the time walking around the center of the city making observations and taking pictures. It was a bit overwhelming. There was heavy traffic, many American spring breakers, and large hotels. There was definitely a huge amount of Americanization present. Almost of the signs were in both English and Spanish, and many of them were written only in English. We ate lunch in Cabo San Lucas and then drove the rest of the way to La Paz and stayed in the same hotel that we stayed at the first night when we arrived in Mexico.

Sunday:
In the morning we went to a Serpentarium and then drove back to Puerto San Carlos.
