On Friday we went to Todos Santos, a small artsy town. We spent the day exploring local artists’ exhibits and small shops with handicrafts, mostly from mainland Mexico. The people in the shops seemed more accustomed to foreign tourists and were curious to learn where we were from. Also, many of the people, especially the younger ones, were delighted to practice their English with us and were impressed by our basic Spanish skills. All in all it was a very pleasant day.
On Saturday we spent the day at a beach near La Paz, called Balandra. It was probably one of the most relaxing days of my life. However, it felt surreal, like we were in a movie because we had this absolutely beautiful beach with white sand and clear water all to ourselves practically the entire day. We saw a middle aged couple walk by when we first got there and a family came as we were leaving, but for the rest of the day it was deserted. Only the jellyfish that we encountered when we decided to swim around to the adjacent inlet detracted from the paradise.
Sunday, we packed our bags, checked out of the hotel, went to breakfast, and then headed to the bus station. There we met up with some of the other students and headed back to the center.
