Adios, Au revoir, Bye bye now DR!

I'm sitting here in the DR getting ready to go to bed so I can head out at 6AM for my flight back to the US. It is so weird that it's already time to head back. My time here went so fast.

I had an AWESOME weekend. We got to the beach on Friday, after a very treachorous bus ride. A lot of curvy roads, not for someone that gets motion sickness (me). That was the least of my problems. I had to go to the bathroom so bad, so we had to pull over just for me. Then, when I find a bathroom, I have to wait for it to open. This wouldn't have been a problem if there went about 30 large jugs of water surrounding me.

We arrived at the hotel, and it was absolutely wonderful. Air conditioned rooms, fluffy pillows, beds without misquito nets and without metal bars in my back. It was all inclusive, so all meals covered and all drinks (so free diet coke for me, I was in heaven).

After we settled in, I immediately got my bathing suit on and head to the Carribean. I jumped right in, only to find out that the waves were not happy that day. I got taken under multiple times. Those waves just twisted me every which way. The water is so beautiful. It's such a pretty blue.

Then we had dinner. I had an awesome meal WITHOUT rice and beans. That night a guy came over and asked to sit with us because he was all alone. At first I thought, "Who is this guy, and what are his intentions?" He turned out to be really cool. He was from Holland and on business. He works for his father who runs a cigar company, specializing in selling machines that roll cigars. He spoke very good english, and said he picked it up while in Australia. He became part of the group all weekend.

Saturday came and breakfast turned out to be just as awesome as dinner. I had an OMELETE!!! After breakfast I decided to try my luck again with the ocean. Let's just say the ocean was angry that day my friends, like an old man trying to send soup back at a deli. I spent a lot of time laying on the beach, playing in the ocean, and playing in the pool. Later on I walked through the little market with Amy, Danna, and our friend Martin (the guy from Holland). Then we came back and had dinner.

That night we went to the neighboring resort and danced in the little club there. I love the dancing here in the DR. I think I finally learned how to do it.

Sunday, I literally sat in the same spot in the dining room from 8:30AM until 12:30PM for both breakfast and lunch...it was awesome. Played some Skipbo, watched the waves crashing, and talked. It was kind of a dreary day, so it wasn't to ideal for laying in the sun (being that the sun wasn't out). Two of the girls and I that we'd try our luck at the pedicurist across the street. This was my first pedicure so I have nothing to compare it to, but I'm pretty sure it was unlike any pedicure anyone has ever had in the US. We sat outside on the sidewalk on lawn chairs. They used sand paper to smooth our feet. The lady sprayed and massaged my feet and legs with misquito repellent after soaking them in water. Then painted my toenails with pink polish followed by white stripes. It was quite the experience.

I just thought of another funny story. Friday night one of my roomates needed ice for here ankle that she twisted. I lent her a garbage bag...bad idea. The workers at the resort filled the entire garbage bag with ice, which ended up filling the entire tub. All she needed was a couple scoups. It was hilarious.

Well, I really need to get to bed. I have to get up at 5AM and it's passed midnight right now. I might make one more entry summing up everything, but don't hold me to it please :) Can't wait to be back in the states and see/talk to everyone!

Next entry: Back in the states!!!
