Yesterday I went to visit my Tajik teacher and her family. It was so good to see her again. I had waited just a bit because I had brought some small presents for her sons and her and, if you remember, my bags didn’t come with me. But, my luggage did arrive on the next flight in on Monday so all is well. Although, after living a few days with only what I had worn and a few things I picked up at the bazaar I was stunned by the large amount that I packed, but that’s another story.
So, I arrived for dinner around 6pm. We had a great talk and even better food. Of course she served osh. I was more than happy to eat some great ash because, although I make it well, it always seems better here in the “stans.” We even had some yogurt with herbs and some “tajik salsa” with fresh baked bread.
It was only the second time I had seen her boys and the first time we really were around each other. When I came for lessons they were in preschool. I think the oldest is 6 and the youngest is 1, so they were a handful. Running all over and playing they were super cute.
