made it back to boston. leaving quito totally sucked. just wasn't ready. but i was actually ok til i got to the miami airport. something about people looking at me weird when i started speaking spanish to them made me want to cry.

however, my last few days were fun. escaped from quito with a friend i was working with. i wanted to go somewhere, and lucky for me, he got fired on the day i wanted to leave! we traveled a few hours away to ibarra where nothing was open due to it being easter weekend. except for karaoke bars n chinese restaurants n cake n dvd shops. we made the best out of our options. two nights there, then off to cotacachi, aka leather land! the old guy at our hostel would not stop going on about this place, beautiful and oh the leather! (he said). so how could we resist seeing a town made of leather? well that guy was a liar because there were no leather houses, leather people, leather pigeons, as our very underactive imaginations had pictured on the busride there. only leather stores. nice n pretty tho. so that night we took a taxi to otavalo, the great market town of ecuador. i had been there once, just for about 12 hours, so i thought it would be a nice place to spend another 12 hours before heading back to quito. of course it was dark and the restaurant i wanted to go to was closed but we managed to find some delicious tex-mex. we actually ate like kings for those few days. actually we spent a lot of our trip talking about food. good guy, if he doesn't mind me going on and on about cheeses and cake and other delicious flavors non-stop.

next day, 2 hour bus ride to quito. packed my stuff. said good bye to the hostel. didn't like that. the local staff was hard to say goodbye to. why are you leaving? you'll be back soon? yes...i'll be back soon. i liked that place. i ate one last good, cheap curry (yeah, i ate a lot of ecuadorian food the last 2.5 months, i thought this was a great last supper), then off to the airport.

it's easy to see how people will just stay forever. at that point i felt that would be a lot easier than coming back here and thinking about real life again. i'm broke. gotta get a job. gotta go back to school. gotta plan my next trip...yeah i do.

being back in normal mode feels so strange.

thus concludes my awesome journal of awesome travels in ecuador. for now anyway. thanks for reading. n supporting. you'll hear from me soon. or call me please cuz i'm lazy.
