At first getting to Auckland we still felt like we were in Australia, but after looking around a bit hearing the different accents and just the overall feel of the city it started to sink in that we were not in Oz anymore. Auckland is a beautiful city, known as the city of sails. It has 2 harbors and a huge sailing community. Walked to the top of Mount Eden, a volcano right in the middle of the city with amazing views. Yes you read that right we walked to the top. New Zealand is so lush and green with so many mountains/volcanoes. Kiwis are so proud of their country and they have good reason to be. For the Easter weekend we headed up north to the Bay of Islands where we went sailing, hiking and just relaxed for a few days. Back down to Auckland for another day where we went across on the ferry to a picturesque little town called Devonport. With so many volcanoes around there are so many amazing views of Auckland. The next day we hopped on the bus and are now in the town of Rotorua. We stopped along the way to explore some caves and last night we went to a traditional Maori Village where we watched dancing and had a Hangi (a huge feast that is prepared in the ground). Today we went whitewater rafting which was a trip, we went over 7 metre high falls. New Zealand is full of adventure sports, you can bungi jump, sky dive, whitewater raft and any other thing you can think of. I don’t know how much more we are going to do, but keep checking to see if we do!
