Today we took a tour, along with a couple of Peace Corps Volunteers from the States, to Laguna Paron. It`s a lovely turquoise lake surrounded by snowcapped mountains (which, need I say, we didnīt see THAT much of!). The journey up to the lake took about 2 hours, again through a canyon with vertical 1000m walls on either side on a rough track. A 4x4 wouldīve found the going challenging - we did it in a Toyota Corolla estate!

Late in the afternoon we kept an appointment weīd made with 2 shoeshine boys to have our boots cleaned. The other 6 with them also wanted to partake in the cleaning ceremony! It took us quite a while to persuade them that we didnīt really want their services! (we nearly succombed when one of the boys kept resting his head on Cazīs knees, pleading woefully!)
