I know I should have visited Vancouver... However, when I went there, it was my first year in Canada, and I was living in Toronto... another big city. I didn't know, I couldn't know that I would be back so I wanted to see another part of Canada, the West Coast. However, i was sick of the city and only wanted to check out Vancouver Island. I know I'll go back to Vancouver one of these days... I hear it's a very nice place, although there seem to be a sort of rivalry with Toronto.
I still can't understand why people have issues like that about their cities.
