So the story is, we could not upload our pictures at the last internet cafe so we found another one. We figured we´d write again.
A story we forgot... we left Bahia Concepcion to drive 80 miles to the town of Loreto yesterday. About half way there, we rounded a curve in the highway at 60mph to immediately come upon a broken down red old school civic, parked in our lane. Clay slammed on the breaks and we pulled up next to the 3 young mexican boys standing on the side of the road. Clay asked if they were OK ¨Bien?¨ They replied no so we pulled over. In broken Spanish Clay asked to look under the hood. His findings were that they blew up their engine. Just to let you know... in between the towns there is absolutely nothing. No gas stations, no convenient stores and barely a house or two. Just desert. So these poor boys were stranded. We hurriedly pushed the car out of the road before a semi came barrelling around the corner. And asked if they wanted a ride to Loreto. They agreed and hopped in the back of our disheveled van with no seats. I´m sure they were uncomfortable but they said nothing. Only one boy would talk with us because he knew a few words in English. They had to have been only 16 or 17 years old. We made it to Loreto and dropped them off at the gas station. Which by the way, we filled up on gas and the attendent tried to cheat Clay out of his change. You have to pay attention to things like that. But Clay was observant and caught him. Good thing.
So that is just a short story... since our last journal entry, Clay and I have been strolling around the city. We went into a really nice department store like a Dillards or Foleys. Clay bought a travel chess set and we got to use really nice bathrooms. Finding a bathroom that you don´t have to throw your tissue in a garbage can or dig a hole is really nice. They even had automatic sinks you could wash your hands in. Momma Smith... you´d have to bring lots of Wet Wipes because hardly any bathrooms have sinks. Oh, also... guess where we ate lunch today???? Yep... a BURGER KING! My, Erin´s, first non seafood meat of the trip. I´ve gone almost vegetarian out of paranoia. Clay on the other hand, has pretty much eaten everything there is to offer. My stomach is just not as hard core as his. I have to be careful.
So, once again, Love to all and talk to you soon... probably in Spring Break Capital, Cabo San Lucas!
